Facial Spots and Cosmetic Skin Care: Treatment Boundaries
What an aesthetic article can establish
The word ‘spot’ can describe many different changes. Its position on the face does not identify an internal-organ problem, and a photograph or face map cannot establish the cause. Dr Sknn does not use this article to diagnose an unexplained lesion.
When cosmetic treatment should wait
Do not cover, extract, peel, laser or inject a new, changing, bleeding, painful, infected-looking or otherwise unexplained area. Arrange an appropriate clinical assessment first. A cosmetic consultation should begin only after any necessary health assessment has taken place.
Cosmetic care after the concern is understood
Where the concern is suitable for aesthetic care, a consultation may consider gentle skincare, the appearance of residual marks or scarring, realistic treatment limits, recovery and the risk of irritation or pigment change. The appropriate option depends on the established concern and the exact treatment available.
Urgent symptoms
Sudden breathing difficulty or marked swelling of the mouth, tongue or throat requires emergency help. A rapidly worsening painful area, spreading redness or feeling very unwell needs prompt clinical assessment rather than cosmetic treatment.
Scope of this article
Dr Sknn is an independent private aesthetics and cosmetics clinic. This page is limited to cosmetic concerns and treatment considerations. Suitability, risks, recovery and current availability are confirmed during an individual consultation. New, changing or unexplained symptoms should be assessed by an appropriate healthcare professional before cosmetic treatment.
