Platelet-Rich Concentrate can be combined with other hair loss treatments including topical or oral minoxidil, oral finasteride, hair transplants.

A course of treatment involves 3 sessions of Platelet-Rich Concentrate with one set of injections each month, over a 3 month period. Ongoing maintenance treatment every six months is recommended. However depending on multiple factors further treatments may be necessary.

Platelets are key factors in tissue repair mechanisms1. They provide essential growth factors, such as FGF, PDGF, TGF-β, EGF, VEGF, IGF, which are involved in stem cell migration, differentiation and proliferation. Among the plasma proteins, the molecules vital for the coagulation process and for formation of the fibrin polymer will serve as a scaffold for cell migration and new tissue generation. Platelet-Rich Concentrate stimulates the proliferation and differentiation of stem cells in the hair follicles, the growth factor VEGF triggers neo angiogenesis and stimulates the blood supply to the hair follicles, furthermore, the dormant hair follicles are stimulated by the growth factor released, studies have shown that there is a significant increase in the diameter and thickness of the hair. Furthermore Platelet-Rich Concentrate improves hair follicle stem cell activation, also improving microcirculation, nutrition and reduces inflammation of follicles

At Dr Sknn, during the consultation a medical history including a physical examination will be performed including photographs. During the consultation there will be an opportunity to discuss any concerns, expectations, results, or questions you may have. For Dr Sknn Hair loss & Restoration Platelet-Rich Concentrate we would need to collect 10ml of blood.

The technique comprises withdrawal of the patient’s own blood, 10ml in total, which is then processed and separated into various components. The prepared components are then used during the treatment.

Platelet-Rich Concentrate treatment is autologous (derived from the patient’s own blood) minimizing safety concerns for an allergic response and disease transmission.

Since Platelet-Rich Concentrate stimulates biological effects results should not be expected immediately and are generally visible at over a period of time with continuous gradual improvement over 6 to 12 months. Improvement is dependent on multiple factors affecting your hair growth phase and whether your hair is within the growth cycle, furthermore, lifestyle factors such as but not limited to smoking and alcohol consumption may affect the quality of the treatment.

The autologous nature of Platelet-Rich Concentrate minimizes concerns for disease transmission and chances for possible side effects, some which may be in a form of skin redness, mild bruising, bleeding, pain, swelling or itching at the injection site. Furthermore as the procedure requires blood collection, some possible side effects from blood collection include hematomas, infections and pain. However prior to treatment an outline of all potential side effect and possible complications will be provided.

Yes as long as you are over the age of 18 and have nocontra-indications. However the treatment will only be performed following aconsultation. What should I avoid after Dr Sknn Hair loss & Restoration Platelet-Rich Concentrate treatment: Avoid alcohol, caffeine, hot drinks and spicy food for 24 hours, as these may exacerbate bruising and swelling.

The minimum time frame between each treatment is one month.

During the first 24-48 hours after the treatment you may experience redness, swelling and tenderness in the treated areas. These are responses are normal and resolve quickly and spontaneously over the next 2-4 days.
