About Gummy Smile Treatments.
A gummy smile is when the upper lip is raised to an excessive level, exposing an overabundance of gum tissue above the upper teeth. A few causes could be a short upper lip: when the upper lip is shorter than normal, it can cause the teeth to appear shorter than usual, making the gums more visible or alternatively a high lip line: a high lip line (where the upper lip rests when not smiling) can make the gum line appear higher than normal when smiling.
At Dr Sknn Wilmslow Cheshire, we offer several effective treatments for reducing the appearance of a gummy smile
Anti-wrinkle injections are a popular treatment for gummy smile. This involves injecting a small amount of a muscle relaxant into the muscles around the mouth. This relaxes the muscles, preventing them from pulling the upper lip too far up when you smile. The result is a softer and more natural-looking smile. This treatment is commonly called Gummy Smile Botox.
Before, during and after your treatment.
Your exact experience and recovery are individual. Your clinician will explain what applies to you.
01 · Before How is movement assessed before treatment?
The clinician examines the relevant area at rest and in movement, alongside baseline asymmetry, surrounding anatomy, medical history and the amount of expression you want to retain.
02 · During A measured, individual route.
If treatment is suitable, the approach and expected course are selected for your anatomy, skin or hair and goals. The safest recommendation may be a staged plan, another treatment or no treatment.
03 · After What aftercare will I receive?
You receive individual written or verbal aftercare, warning signs, contact guidance and the appropriate review timing for the chosen treatment.

Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are another option for treating gummy smile. This involves a specialist injecting a hyaluronic acid-based filler into the area around the mouth or within the lips. This helps to reduce the appearance of the gummy smile by filling in the gaps between the upper lip and the gums. This treatment is commonly called Gummy Smile Dermal Filler Correction.
