“Lower-face filler” is a broad term, not one treatment plan. People may mean the chin, jawline or lines around the mouth. These concerns have different causes and may call for different options, including no injection. A consultation should identify the exact area and the change you want to discuss.

Which areas are being considered?

A jawline discussion concerns lower-face outline and balance; a chin discussion concerns profile and proportion. Lines around the mouth are another issue and should not be assumed to need the same approach. What can filler do, and what can it not promise?

A suitable filler may change volume or contour in a selected area, but it does not tighten all loose skin, correct every fold or reproduce a surgical lift. No product, amount, duration or result is right for everyone. Effects and material persistence vary by product, area and person, so a repeat-treatment schedule should be based on reassessment. Do not assume that every filler is made of the same material or that any unwanted result is easily or completely reversed; any reduction or removal is a separate clinical decision with its own risks.

What should be covered before and after treatment?

Ask about the exact product and area, the eligible practitioner, realistic limits, recovery and aftercare. Bruising, swelling, tenderness, infection, nodules and asymmetry are possible. Unintended injection into a blood vessel can cause serious injury. Seek urgent assessment for severe or increasing pain, pale or dusky skin, or visual symptoms during or after filler. A new or changing health symptom should receive an appropriate healthcare assessment rather than be treated as a routine cosmetic concern.
