A filler appointment should begin with a discussion, not a promise of a particular result. A suitable plan depends on the area you are considering, your previous treatment and health history, the proposed product, the practitioner and your own goals. Deciding to have no injection is also an option.

Before a filler treatment

Ask who will assess you and who would inject, which exact product and area they propose, what change is realistic and what alternatives exist. Tell the practitioner about relevant medicines, allergies, previous cosmetic procedures and any earlier complication. Ask for the total price, any follow-up cost and a clear explanation of the risks. A generic article cannot establish that a particular filler, technique or treatment area is suitable for you.

During the appointment

If a treatment is agreed, the practitioner should explain the individual steps, expected discomfort and aftercare before proceeding. Products and techniques differ, so a fixed procedure time or injection pattern cannot be promised for everyone. You should know whom to contact if you have a concern after leaving the clinic.

Early appearance and recovery

Swelling, tenderness and bruising may affect the early appearance. The final look, how long it lasts and the time until usual activities vary by person, area and product. Do not assume an immediate, permanent or naturally subtle result, or that there will be no downtime. Follow the treating practitioner's individual aftercare directions instead of a universal exercise, heat, massage or skincare timetable from a general page.

Risks and follow-up

Filler injections can cause pain, swelling, bruising, infection, lumps, asymmetry or an unwanted appearance. Rare serious harm can occur if filler affects a blood vessel. Ask what the clinic's complication and review arrangements are for the exact proposed treatment. If severe or worsening pain, a concerning skin-colour change or any change in vision follows an injection, seek urgent healthcare assessment.
