Visible Lip Veins: Cosmetic Treatment Boundaries

Visible Lip Veins: Cosmetic Treatment Boundaries

Why assessment comes first

A small visible vessel or blue-purple spot can have more than one cause. A new, changing, painful, bleeding or unexplained lip mark should be assessed appropriately before any cosmetic procedure. Dr Sknn does not diagnose a lip lesion through an article or photograph.

Cosmetic treatment boundary

If the concern has been appropriately assessed and is suitable for aesthetic care, a consultation may discuss whether any cosmetic option is available, its limitations, likely recovery, pigment risk and the possibility that no treatment should be offered.

When to seek emergency help

Sudden widespread blue or grey colour of the lips or face, particularly with breathing difficulty, chest pain, confusion or dizziness, requires emergency help. It is not a cosmetic concern.

General lip care

Avoid picking, burning, needling or applying corrosive home remedies to a lip lesion. Use gentle lip care and protect the area from excessive sun while awaiting appropriate assessment.
