Peptide Moisturisers: What the Evidence Can and Cannot Show
Moisturising benefit and peptide claims are separate
A moisturiser may improve dryness because of its full formulation. That does not prove that a peptide ingredient will tighten skin, rebuild facial structure or reproduce the effect of a cosmetic procedure.
Evidence applies to the tested product
Peptide products vary in the peptide used, concentration, delivery system and other ingredients. A result reported for one formulation should not be transferred to every product carrying a peptide claim.
How to choose and use one
Choose a product that suits the degree of dryness and the rest of the routine. Introduce it separately, follow the label and stop if marked burning, swelling or persistent irritation develops.
Realistic expectations
A cosmetic moisturiser may support hydration and appearance, but it cannot promise a lifting effect or permanent change. New, changing or unexplained symptoms should be assessed appropriately before cosmetic treatment.
