Read more about IllumiFacial - Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatment details and clinical context

illumiFacial is a branded combination of skincare and IPL steps. IPL delivers pulses of light; it is not the same technology as a laser. The proposed device, products and treatment area should be explained at consultation.

An IPL-based cosmetic plan may be considered for selected uneven skin tone or visible superficial vessels after assessment. It cannot guarantee flawless skin, a particular degree of tightening or a lasting result.

Suitability and recovery vary. Skin characteristics, tanning, medicines, previous procedures and the exact equipment matter. This page does not prescribe filters, settings, treatment intervals or a standard course.

A consultation may conclude that a different treatment—or no treatment—is the safest and most appropriate recommendation.
What to expect

Before, during and after your treatment.

Your exact experience and recovery are individual. Your clinician will explain what applies to you.

01 · Before Check individual suitability

Review skin characteristics, recent tanning, medicines, previous procedures and the proposed device and products. Confirm the preparation and whether treatment should proceed.

02 · During Follow the agreed treatment plan

The practitioner should explain each step, expected sensations and the required eye protection. Device settings and timing belong in the individual clinical plan.

03 · After Review recovery and concerns

Follow written aftercare and contact guidance. Recovery varies; seek advice about unexpected or worsening symptoms rather than assuming a reaction proves treatment success.

Questions before choosing treatment

Review the exact proposal, realistic limits, risks and current appointment details.

What is included?

Ask the practitioner to explain the exact skincare and light-based steps in the quoted appointment, why they are appropriate and which additions, if any, are separately priced.

Sensation and unwanted effects

Warmth or discomfort, redness and swelling can occur. Burns, blistering and pigment changes are possible. Discuss the material risks, required eye protection and individual recovery before deciding.

Preparation and aftercare

Follow advice specific to the device, products and your skin. Discuss sun exposure, tanning and medicines beforehand; do not alter prescribed medication without appropriate clinical advice.

A change in pigmentation after treatment is not proof of a perfect result. Ask what reactions are expected, what needs prompt assessment and how to contact the clinic.

Limits of cosmetic treatment

A new or changing skin mark needs appropriate assessment before a cosmetic light treatment is considered. This page does not diagnose skin lesions or replace medical assessment.

Questions before booking

Frequently asked questions.

Preparation, treatment, recovery, suitability and aftercare guidance to support your consultation.

How many appointments will I need?
The practitioner should explain whether treatment is suitable, the proposed course and how progress will be reviewed. No fixed session count or interval is prescribed here.
Is the treatment comfortable?
Sensation varies. Skincare steps may sting and IPL may feel warm or uncomfortable. Discuss what to expect and any appropriate comfort measures.
Can side effects be ruled out?
No. Non-invasive treatment still carries risks. Ask about expected reactions, less common complications and individual recovery.
What should I do before and after treatment?
Use the specific written preparation and aftercare for your plan. Ask about sun exposure, skincare, medicines, warning signs and contact arrangements.
Will darkening pigment mean it worked perfectly?
No. Skin reactions need to be interpreted in the context of your treatment and recovery. A change in colour does not establish success or rule out a complication.
