Lip volume, the outline of the upper lip, how much of it shows when you smile, and lines around the mouth are different cosmetic concerns. A photograph or a treatment name cannot establish why a lip looks a particular way or which, if any, change would suit you. It is reasonable to decide against a procedure.
What makes a lip look fuller or more visible?
Natural lip shape, facial movement, skin texture and the relationship between the lips and surrounding features all affect appearance. Adding volume and changing how the upper lip appears during movement are different aims. A choice that addresses one may not address the other. Your clinician can explain which parts of your concern are realistically changeable and which are not.
What happens in a consultation?
We start with what you have noticed and what you hope to achieve. The clinician can consider your lip and surrounding skin, facial movement, previous cosmetic procedures, relevant history and your preferences. They should explain whether any available option is suitable, what the likely limits are and whether no procedure is the better choice. This page does not select a medicine, product, injection technique or result for you.
How can I compare cosmetic choices?
Depending on your concern and the actual clinic and practitioner availability, the discussion may include skin care, non-prescription cosmetic procedures or no procedure. Ask what a proposed option is intended to change, what it cannot change, how long any effect may last, possible unwanted effects, aftercare, recovery, alternatives and the total cost before deciding. No approach can guarantee symmetry, a particular smile shape or a fuller appearance.
What if I have lines around my mouth?
Lines around the mouth are not necessarily a lip-volume concern. Skin texture, facial movement and other features can all contribute. We assess the appearance you wish to discuss rather than assuming that one lip procedure will address it.
Consultations, fees and locations
Doctor, Nurse and Qualified Practitioner consultations are free. A separate £50 reservation fee secures a Doctor appointment. Wilmslow is our primary clinic and Didsbury is also active; Leigh is closed. We do not have a Liverpool or Manchester clinic. The exact service, location and eligible practitioner must be checked in the Dr Sknn booking app before booking.
When should I seek a different assessment?
New pain, swelling, a changing lesion, trouble eating or speaking, or a concern after a previous procedure needs an appropriate health assessment. This guide is about cosmetic appearance and cannot diagnose a condition or replace an individual assessment.
