“Blood spot” and “red mole” are everyday descriptions, not a diagnosis. A mark should not be labelled a cherry angioma or offered cosmetic removal from its colour alone.
A red mark is not automatically a cosmetic concern
A new, changing, repeatedly bleeding, crusting or otherwise concerning mark needs appropriate healthcare assessment. A cosmetic consultation cannot rule out another skin condition. Do not use removal to avoid finding out what the mark is.
If a benign mark has been assessed
You can discuss whether its appearance bothers you, whether an appropriate cosmetic option is available and whether the likely benefit is worthwhile. Leaving an assessed benign mark alone may be reasonable.
Ask about the exact option
The method should fit the assessed mark, its location, your skin and relevant history. An older page mentioning IPL does not establish that IPL is suitable for every red spot. No session count, complete clearance or permanent result is promised.
Prepare for the discussion
Bring details of when the mark appeared, changes you have noticed, previous treatment and any assessment already obtained. Before consenting, ask about the expected appearance afterwards, material risks, healing, possible scarring or colour change, and review arrangements.
