Poikiloderma of Civatte can involve mottled reddish-brown colour, fine visible vessels and thinning of the skin, often at the sides of the neck. It is more than an isolated vessel to be “sealed off”.
Confirm the assessment first
Not every patch of neck redness is poikiloderma of Civatte. A clinician should establish what the change represents before any cosmetic procedure is considered. Tell them about symptoms, products, sun exposure and previous treatment.
Identify the cosmetic priority
If the diagnosis is established, explain whether colour, visible vessels or texture is the main concern. One procedure may not address every feature. Complete or permanent restoration of the skin is not promised.
Discuss a specific proposal
Light-based approaches may be considered for selected colour or vessel concerns, but suitability depends on the skin and exact device.
