What are Coolwaves™?
Coolwaves™ are a specifically selected frequency of Microwave. What should I expect during the Consultation?
At Dr Sknn, during the consultation a medical history including a physical examination will be performed, measurements and photographs will also be taken. During the consultation there will be an opportunity to discuss any concerns, expectations, results or questions you may have. Prior to the treatment any post treatment advice and risks associated with the treatment are discussed ensuring you fully understand them and a consent form is signed.
Can I have the Treatment Immediately?
At Dr Sknn, safety and eligibility to treatment is of highest priority, prior to any treatment, as no one size fits all, a full consultation will be performed and if found suitable to the treatment, then the treatment can be safely performed
How Do I prepare for this procedure?
Some of the pre-treatment advice is listed below. Please note that during the consultation you will be provided with a complete list. Avoid direct sun exposure to the treatment area 7 days before the treatment. You should drink 2-3 litres of water a day to facilitate the drainage of interstitial fluids. It is recommended to start this 2-3 days before the treatment and continue the following day.
What is the after care advice?
Some of the post-treatment advice is listed below. Please note that during the consultation you will be provided with a complete list. You may experience mildly pink or red skin, tenderness or discomfort, swelling, tissue firmness or nodules in the treated areas. These are all expected side effects which usually resolve without medical intervention. If needed, use a cold compress to help relieve tenderness.
What are the interval in between sessions?
For Fat reduction the minimum interval between treatments is 4 weeks. For Cellulite Reduction the minimum interval between treatments is 3 weeks. For Skin Tightening the minimum interval between treatments is 3 weeks.
Can the minimum interval between sessions be shortened?
No as the body needs time to remove the lysate generated by the ONDA treatment.
Is there any downtime following Treatment?
There is no downtime and you can continue normal activity straight after your treatment however you are required to follow the post treatment instructions.o there is no downtime.
What Treatment Regimes are required for most effective results?
For long-lasting results the following recommendations are present. For Fat reduction: a minimum course of 5 treatments at 4 weekly interval with weekly review and lymphatic massage. For Cellulite Reduction: a minimum course of 5 treatments at 4 weekly interval with weekly review and lymphatic massage.
How long does the treatment take?
As each individual is different and no one size fits all approach can be taken the treatment length is dependent on the area treated. Generally each treatment covers an area of 15 by 15cm which takes approximately 15 minutes however it is possible to have multiple areas performed in each session.
Is the Treatment Painful?
No. In comparison to fat freezing and Radio Frequency which are both uncomfortable the ONDA is virtually pain-free it provides a gentle warmth under the skin and the area treated may remain warm for a few hours post treatment.
Who Can Have Non-Surgical Fat Removal, Cellulite Reduction & Skin Tightening?
Both Women & Men over the age of 18 years, however, prior to any procedure at Dr Sknn all side effects and risks are outlined. Additionally, prior to any procedure any possible contraindications are checked to safely deliver treatments with minimal side effects and risks.

How soon can I see results?
Initial improvement is dependent on baseline conditions and following post treatment advise however results can be noted just after the first session however to consolidate the results a treatment regime should be adhered to. For fat treatments, for instance, 2 to 4 sessions are usually necessary for good results (depending on baseline and if post treatment care is followed) while for both cellulite and tightening the results may be noticed earlier within 2 sessions.
What Does the Treatment Feel Like?
The CoolwavesTM technology readily passes through the skin than other technologies thus only focusing energy where it is needed resulting in less heating and discomfort on the skin.
What should I expect straight after the treatment?
For Body treatments, it is normal to experience an increased need to use the toilet to pass urine due to a result of some of the triglycerides being metabolised by passing into the urinary system. The skin elasticity improves in addition to the skin appearing firmer due to the contraction of the collagen fibres.
