Profhilo is the first injectable of its kind used to treat skin laxity and poor hydration. Profhilo uses a process of thermal cross-linking to stimulate 4 different types of collagens and elastin through the slow release of Hyaluronic Acid. How does Profhilo work?
Profhilo works by bio-remodeling, it leads to cellular activation in different layers of the skin Changes to the structure of the extra cellular matrix activates stimulation of cell migration and cell proliferation therefore promoting improvement to the skin elasticity while maintaining the viability of fibroblast, keratinocytes and adipocytes. Profhilo also leads to tissue restoration without replacing volume, leading to both tightening and hydrating the tissue. Profhilo is a hybrid of high and low molecular weight of hyaluronic acid, which work together to increase elastin, collagen and the thickness of the skin. Within 2ml of Profhilo there is 64mg of Hyaluronic Acid which is the highest content currently available within the market.
What should I expect during the Consultation?
At Dr Sknn, during the consultation a medical history including a physical examination will be performed including photographs. During the consultation there will be an opportunity to discuss any concerns, expectations, results, or questions you may have. Prior to the treatment any post treatment advice and risks associated with the treatment are discussed ensuring you fully understand them.

What is the after care advice?
Some of the post-treatment advice is listed below. Please note that during the consultation you will be provided with a complete list. You can use a cold pack to reduce swelling and / or redness. Do not massage or manipulate the treated area.

Can I have Profhilo at the same time as other procedures?
At Dr Sknn we take all precautions when treating any individual as such certain time frames are required when mixing Profhilo with other treatments.
How many injection points do you use?
At Dr Sknn we perform, depending on the area, 10 injection points, 5 on each side of the face, here 0.2ml bolus is used per point directed in the deep dermal layer, each injection point has a diffusion amount of 2cm.
What about maintenance treatments?
At Dr Sknn we recommend a 6-monthly maintenance plan with a single treatment following completing your initial course of treatments.
Who is unsuitable for the treatment?

How many Profhilo treatments do I require?
At Dr Sknn we recommend having 2 treatments at a 1-month interval, a third treatment 2-months after the second treatment may be required depending on skin quality, age and external factors.
Are there any side effects?
Side effects are usually minimal and usually transitory. You may experience pain at the injection points, a slight sensation of heat may occur, while there may be redness or swelling in the area however these generally disappear in a very short period of time. In certain areas such as the cheek area these effects may take a little longer to disappear and may last up to 2 weeks. However prior to treatment an outline of all potential side effect and possible complications will be provided.
