At Dr Sknn, the Lynton Lumina, a state-of-the-art Intense Pulsed Light System (IPL) is utilised, which is also employed by NHS and private hospitals across the UK for the safe and effective treatment of Intense Pulsed Light on skin types I-IV. By emitting light in a specific wavelength ranges, absorption peaks in haemoglobin and oxy-haemoglobin can be targeted at Dr Sknn, meaning treatment of Intense Pulsed Light of varying sizes and depths can take place while causing minimal damage to the adjacent skin. After the treatment, the damaged vessels are taken in by the body, leaving almost no trace of the original lesion.

Through the use of IPL at Dr Sknn, light energy is tapped into; the light is taken in by the blood vessels, heating them up until they spasm and/or collapse, thus sealing them. In the following weeks, the damaged vessels are naturally taken in by the body, resulting in little or no evidence of the original lesion remaining.
