At Dr Sknn we deploy the Lynton Lumina, a state-of-the-art Intense Pulsed Light System (IPL), which is also utilised by the NHS and private hospitals across the United Kingdom, to safely and efficiently treat Intense Pulsed Light on skin types I-IV. By broadcasting light in a determined wavelength range, our crew at Dr Sknn are able to target absorption peaks in haemoglobin and oxy-haemoglobin, allowing us to treat Intense Pulsed Light of various sizes and depths while causing limited damage to the neighbouring skin. After treatment, the damaged vessels are reabsorbed by the body, leaving little or no trace of the initial lesion.

Through application of IPL at Dr Sknn, light energy is accessed, the light being taken up by the capillaries, heating them to a point where they quiver and/or break down, and thereby sealing them. In the weeks that follow, the injured vessels are taken in naturally by the body, leaving no sign of the original blemish.

At Dr Sknn, a medical history and physical examination with photographs will be done during the session. You will be given the opportunity to voice any fears, expectations, results or questions you may have. Before the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment, any post-treatment advice and the risks associated with the treatment will be discussed to make sure you fully understand them and sign a consent form. Furthermore, if it is a novel area being treated, a patch test will be performed to certify suitability.
