This is the same technology which is employed by the NHS and private hospitals across the UK to treat Thread Vein on skin types I-IV. This system works by delivering light at certain wavelength ranges, targeting absorption peaks in haemoglobin and oxy-haemoglobin. This allows us to treat Thread Vein of different sizes and depths with minimal damage to the neighbouring skin. Upon completion of the treatment, the damaged vessels are reabsorbed by the body, leaving no signs of the initial lesion.

At Dr Sknn, the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is employed to convey light energy which is then taken in by the blood vessels, raising their temperature to the point of constriction and/or closure, in order to seal them. Over the subsequent weeks, the broken vessels are naturally absorbed by the body, with no evidence of the original lesion.

At Dr Sknn, during the visit a medical history including a physical assessment will be done, with photographs taken. This is your opportunity to discuss any worries, expectations, results, or questions you may have. All post treatment advice and any risks associated with the procedure are talked through before the treatment, to make sure you have a full understanding of them, and a consent form is signed. Moreover, if it is a new area being treated, a small patch test will be performed to confirm its suitability with Intense Pulsed Light (IPL).
