Poikiloderma Augmentation

At Dr Sknn we utilise the Lynton Lumina, a state-of-the-art Intense Pulsed Light System (IPL) which is also used in NHS and private hospitals across the UK, to treat Poikiloderma on skin types I-IV securely and effectively. The light emitted from this system is within a particular wavelength range, permitting us to target absorption peaks in haemoglobin and oxy-haemoglobin. As a consequence, we can address lesions of varying sizes and depths with minimal harm to the surrounding skin. After the treatment, the affected vessels are taken in by the body, leaving no trace of the initial lesion.

At Dr Sknn, we employ IPL to take advantage of the energy of light. This light is absorbed by the Poikiloderma, heating them to a point that they spasm and shut, forming a seal. In the succeeding weeks, the broken vessels are naturally reabsorbed by the body, leaving no sign of the original lesion.

At Dr Sknn, a medical history and physical examination, including pictures, will be performed during the consultation. During this period, you will be given the chance to talk about any issues, expectations, results, or questions you may have. Prior to the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) procedure, the possible risks and post-treatment advice associated with the treatment will be discussed so that you understand them fully and a consent form will be signed.
