At Dr Sknn we deploy the Lynton Lumina, a state-of-the-art Intense Pulsed Light System (IPL), which is also used by the NHS and private hospitals throughout the UK, to securely and effectively treat Poikiloderma on skin types I-IV. By sending out light in designated wavelength ranges at Dr Sknn we focus on absorption peaks in haemoglobin and oxy-haemoglobin, allowing us to treat Poikiloderma of different sizes and at various depths while causing restricted damage to the surrounding skin. After the treatment the damaged vessels are taken in by the body and there is little to no trace of the initial lesion.

At Dr Sknn, we make use of IPL, leveraging light energy that is absorbed by the Poikiloderma, heating them to a point of spasm and/or closure, sealing them off. In the following weeks, the injured vessels are absorbed by the body, leaving little to no sign of the original mark.

At Dr Sknn, the first step of the consultation process is to take a detailed medical history and physical examination, including photographs. During this time, you will be able to ask any questions and voice any concerns, expectations or results. Before undergoing the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment, all post-treatment advice and risks associated with the procedure will be discussed and a consent form signed. If a new area is being treated, a patch test will also be done to confirm that it is suitable.
