At Dr Sknn we utilise the Lynton Lumina, a state-of-the-art Intense Pulsed Light System (IPL) also used by the NHS and private hospitals across the UK, to safely and effectively treat Poikiloderma on skin types I-IV. By emitting light with a particular wavelength range, we are able to target absorption peaks in haemoglobin and oxy-haemoglobin, allowing us to deal with lesions of different sizes and depths while inflicting minimal damage to the surrounding skin. Following the treatment, the affected vessels are taken up by the body, leaving no trace of the initial lesion.

At Dr Sknn, IPL is employed to make use of light energy. This light is taken in by the Poikiloderma, which become heated to a point where they spasm and shut, forming a seal. In the weeks that follow, the broken vessels are reabsorbed by the body, so there is little evidence of the original lesion.

At Dr Sknn, a medical history and physical examination, including photographs, will be conducted during the consultation. During this time, you will be able to talk about any issues, expectations, results, or queries you may have. Ahead of the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment, the associated risks and post-treatment advice will be discussed in detail to make sure you understand them and a consent form will be signed.
