At Dr Sknn we employ the Lynton Lumina, a state-of-the-art Intense Pulsed Light System (IPL), which is also employed by the NHS and private hospitals all over the UK, to treat Poikiloderma with safety and efficiency on skin types I-IV. Via emitting light in particular wavelength ranges at Dr Sknn we aim at absorption peaks in haemoglobin and oxy-haemoglobin, allowing us to treat Poikiloderma of various sizes and depths while causing marginal harm to the neighbouring skin. After the treatment the damaged vessels are taken in by the body and there is little to no trace of the original lesion.

At Dr Sknn, we make use of IPL, taking advantage of the light energy which is sucked up by the Poikiloderma, heating them to a point of spasm and/or closing, which seals them off. Over the following weeks, the damaged vessels are absorbed by the body, leaving little or no sign of the initial lesion.

At the Dr Sknn consultation, a medical history including a physical examination will take place, along with taking photographs. This is a chance for you to raise any apprehensions, expectations, results, or queries you have. Ahead of the treatment, any post treatment advice and hazards associated with the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment will be gone through to make sure you fully grasp them and a consent form is signed.
