At Dr Sknn, the Lynton Lumina, a state-of-the-art Intense Pulsed Light System (IPL) is employed. This system is used by the NHS and private hospitals across the UK to treat Poikiloderma on skin types I-IV in a safe and successful manner. By emitting light in certain wavelength ranges, we are able to pinpoint the absorption peaks of haemoglobin and oxy-haemoglobin, allowing us to treat Poikiloderma of different sizes and depths while causing minimal damage to the surrounding skin. After the procedure, the damaged vessels are taken in by the body, leaving little or no trace of the initial lesion.

Here at Dr Sknn, we use IPL to employ light energy which is taken in by the Poikiloderma, heating them to a point where they spasm or disintegrate, thus sealing them. In the following weeks, the damaged vessels are absorbed back into the body organically, leaving little to no sign of the original lesion.

This provides you with the chance to voice any apprehensions, expectations, queries or questions. Before any treatment, all potential risks and post-treatment advice will be discussed to make sure that you understand them, and a consent form will be signed.
