At Dr Sknn, we use the Lynton Lumina, a state-of-the-art Intense Pulsed Light System (IPL) employed by the NHS and private hospitals all over the UK to treat Poikiloderma on skin types I-IV. Utilising light in precise wavelength ranges, we at Dr Sknn are able to target absorption peaks in haemoglobin and oxy-haemoglobin, allowing us to treat lesions in different sizes and depths, while resulting in minimal harm to the nearby skin. Following the treatment, the damaged vessels are usually absorbed by the body and generally leave no sign of the original lesion.

At Dr Sknn, by utilising IPL, we make use of light energy, this light is taken up by the Poikiloderma, heating them to a point where they constrict and/or shut down, sealing off. In the following weeks, the hurt vessels are naturally taken in by the body, leaving little to no trace of the original mark.

At Dr Sknn, during the consultation a medical history and physical examination will be performed, with photographs being taken. During the meeting, you will have the opportunity to share any reservations, expectations, results, or questions you may have. Ahead of the treatment, any post-treatment advice and risks linked to the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) procedure will be discussed to ensure you understand them completely and a consent form is signed. Furthermore, if it is a new area being treated, a small patch test using IPL will be done to make sure it is appropriate.
