At Dr Sknn we employ the Lynton Lumina, a state-of-the-art Intense Pulsed Light System (IPL) used by the NHS and private hospitals throughout the UK to securely and effectively treat Port Wine Stain on skin types I-IV. By shooting light in particular wavelength ranges, we target absorption peaks in haemoglobin and oxy-haemoglobin, thus being able to treat Port Wine Stain of varying sizes and depths, causing minimal damage to the surrounding skin. Following treatment, the damaged vessels are consumed by the body, with hardly any evidence of the initial lesion remaining.

At Dr Sknn, IPL is deployed to utilise light energy, the light being taken up by the Port Wine Stain and heating them so that they spasm and/or collapse and are then sealed. Through the weeks that follow, the damaged vessels are naturally taken in by the body, leaving no sign of the original lesion.
