This same system is utilised by the NHS and private hospitals throughout the United Kingdom to treat Port Wine Stain in a secure and effective manner for skin types I-IV. The light that is emitted from the Lumina is in a particular wavelength range, which enables us to target the absorption peaks of haemoglobin and oxy-haemoglobin. This allows us to treat Port Wine Stain of various sizes and depths with minimal harm to the surrounding skin. After the treatment, the affected vessels are taken in by the body, leaving behind almost no sign of the initial lesion.

By using IPL at Dr Sknn, we are able to bring light energy into play, which is then taken in by the Port Wine Stain and heated to the point that they contract and/or collapse, and are sealed. After a few weeks, the broken vessels will be naturally taken in by the body, leaving little or no sign of the original lesion.
