The light emitted by the Lynton Lumina in certain wavelength ranges at Dr Sknn permits us to target the absorption peaks in haemoglobin and oxy-haemoglobin, enabling us to treat Port Wine Staining of a variety of sizes and depths while causing minimal disruption to the adjacent skin. Following treatment, the damaged vessels are taken in by the body, leaving nearly no trace of the original lesion.

At Dr Sknn, IPL is used to take advantage of light energy, the light is absorbed by Port Wine Staining and causes them to heat up to the point of cramp and/or collapse, thereby sealing them. As time passes, the affected vessels are absorbed naturally by the body, resulting in scarcely any trace of the original lesion.

When visiting Dr Sknn, a complete medical history and physical examination are conducted, including taking of photographs. During the consultation, guests have the opportunity to express any concerns, expectations, results, or queries they may have. All the post-treatment guidance and potential risks involved with the use of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) will be discussed beforehand and a consent form needs to be signed. Furthermore, a small patch test using IPL will be done if there is a new area being treated to ensure compatibility.
