At Dr Sknn, the Lynton Lumina, a state-of-the-art Intense Pulsed Light System (IPL) used by the NHS and private hospitals across the UK, is employed to treat Port Wine Staining on skin types I-IV safely and effectively. By delivering light in specific wavelength ranges, we are able to target absorption peaks in haemoglobin and oxy-haemoglobin, thereby enabling us to treat Port Wine Staining of different sizes and depths while causing minimal harm to the surrounding skin. Subsequent to treatment, the impaired vessels are assimilated by the body and no indication of the initial lesion remains.

At Dr Sknn, we employ IPL which utilises light energy to heat the Port Wine Staining, causing them to spasm and/or collapse, thus sealing them. Gradually, the damaged vessels are naturally absorbed by the body over the coming weeks, leaving no evidence of the initial lesion.

At Dr Sknn, a comprehensive medical history and physical examination are done during the consultation, along with taking of photographs. Guests will get the chance to voice their fears, expectations, results they would like to achieve, or any questions they may have. All the post-treatment advice and associated risks of the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment will be discussed prior to the treatment and a consent form needs to be signed. Additionally, if there is a new area to be treated, then a patch test using IPL will be carried out to make sure the compatibility of the patient.
