At Dr Sknn, we make use of the Lynton Lumina, a highly advanced Intense Pulsed Light System (IPL) that is also employed by NHS clinics and private hospitals across the UK, to efficiently and safely treat Port Wine Staining on skin types I-IV. By emitting light in a precise wavelength range, Dr Sknn are able to target absorption peaks in haemoglobin and oxy-haemoglobin, allowing us to tackle lesions of differing sizes and depths, all with minimal effect on the encompassing skin. Subsequent to treatment, the affected vessels are absorbed by the body, leaving no or little evidence of the initial lesion.

At Dr Sknn, with the application of IPL, light energy is harnessed, this is then absorbed by the Port Wine Staining, resulting in them becoming heated to the point that they spasm and/or contract, thereby sealing them. Over the course of the following weeks, the damaged vessels are naturally broken down by the body, with minimal or no trace of the starting lesion existing.
