Dr Sknn deploys the Lynton Lumina, a state-of-the-art Intense Pulsed Light System (IPL), which is also utilised by the NHS and private hospitals throughout the UK, to treat Port Wine Staining safely and competently on skin types I-IV. At Dr Sknn, the light emitted by the Lynton Lumina at certain wavelength ranges enables us to target the absorption peaks in haemoglobin and oxy-haemoglobin, thus being able to treat Port Wine Staining of different sizes and at different depths while causing minimal injury to the neighbouring skin. Following treatment, the damaged vessels are absorbed by the body, leaving little or no trace of the initial lesion.

Through Dr Sknn, IPL is utilised to bring about light energy, this light is absorbed by the Port Wine Staining and causes them to heat up to the point of spasm and/or collapse, sealing them. As time goes by, the damaged vessels are consumed by the body, leaving little to no trace of the original lesion.

At Dr Sknn, during the consultation a medical history including a physical examination and photos will be done. This is when you can talk about any apprehensions, expectations, results, or queries you may have. Before the treatment any post-treatment advice and the dangers attached with it will be described to make certain you understand them and a consent form will be signed.
