At Dr Sknn we make use of the Lynton Lumina, a state-of-the-art Intense Pulsed Light System (IPL), which is also employed by the NHS and private hospitals in the UK for the safe and effective treatment of Port Wine Staining on skin types I-IV. We are able to target absorption peaks in haemoglobin and oxy-haemoglobin, with the light from this system, to treat Port Wine Staining at different sizes and depths while causing minimal damage to the surrounding skin. Following treatment, the damaged vessels are absorbed by the body and little or no trace of the initial lesion remains.

The light is absorbed by the Port Wine Staining and the heat generated results in them spasming and/or collapsing, therefore obstructing them. In the weeks that follow, the injured vessels are reabsorbed by the body, leaving only a slight hint of the lesion.
