At Dr Sknn we make use of the Lynton Lumina, a leading-edge Intense Pulsed Light System (IPL), that is also employed by the NHS and private hospitals across the UK, to address Port Wine Staining in a secure and effective manner on skin types I-IV. By transmitting light in particular wavelength ranges at Dr Sknn, we are able to concentrate on absorption peaks in haemoglobin and oxy-haemoglobin, thus enabling us to treat Port Wine Staining of diverse sizes and depths without causing significant harm to the nearby skin. Following treatment, the damaged vessels are taken in by the body and little or no indication of the initial lesion remains.

At Dr Sknn, with the application of IPL, light energy is employed, this is then absorbed by the Port Wine Staining, resulting in them becoming heated to the point that they spasm and/or collapse, in turn sealing them. Over the course of the following weeks, the broken vessels are absorbed naturally by the body, with minimal or no trace of the starting lesion existing.
