At Dr Sknn we employ the Lynton Lumina, a cutting-edge Intense Pulsed Light System (IPL), which is also employed by the NHS and private hospitals in the UK, for safely and effectively treating Portwine Stain on skin types I-IV. By radiating light in specific wavelength ranges, we are able to target absorption peaks in haemoglobin and oxy-haemoglobin, enabling us to deal with Portwine Stain of several sizes and depths while causing minimal damage to the neighbouring skin. Following the treatment, the affected vessels are assimilated by the body, leaving next to no indication of the original lesion.

At Dr Sknn, IPL is utilised to utilise light energy, with the radiation being absorbed by the Portwine Stain which are then heated up to a certain temperature so as to make them spasm and/or stop working. Subsequently, the destroyed vessels are taken in by the body within the following weeks, very little or no indication of the original scar being left.
