At Dr Sknn, we employ the Lynton Lumina - a state-of-the-art Intense Pulsed Light System (IPL), which is also used in NHS and private hospitals across the UK, to treat Portwine Stain safely and effectively on skin types I-IV. By radiating light in certain wavelength ranges, we at Dr Sknn are able to target absorption peaks in haemoglobin and oxy-haemoglobin, and thus being able to treat Portwine Stain of varying sizes and depths, while causing minimal damage to the nearby skin. Following treatment, the damaged vessels are taken up by the body and generally little or no trace of the original lesion is left.

Through adopting IPL at Dr Sknn, we use light energy. This energy is absorbed by the Portwine Stain, heating them to a point where they go into spasm and/or collapse and seals. In the following weeks, the harmed vessels are absorbed naturally by the body so little or no trace of the primary lesion remains.
