At Dr Sknn we use the Lynton Lumina, a top-of-the-range Intense Pulsed Light System (IPL) employed by the NHS and private hospitals across the UK to treat Portwine Stain with safety and efficacy on skin types I-IV. By emitting light in specific wavelength ranges, we at Dr Sknn can target absorption peaks in haemoglobin and oxy-haemoglobin, thereby enabling us to treat Portwine Stain at various sizes and depths, while causing minimal destruction to the surrounding skin. After the treatment, the damaged vessels are absorbed by the body and no or little indication of the initial lesion is observable.

Here at Dr Sknn, we make use of Intense Pulsed Light to make the most of light energy. This light is then taken in by the Portwine Stain, heating them to the extent where they constrict and/or collapse, forming a seal. Over the next few weeks, the injured vessels will naturally be removed by the body, leaving no sign of the initial lesion.
