At Dr Sknn we take advantage of the Lynton Lumina, a state-of-the-art Intense Pulsed Light System (IPL), which is also employed by the NHS and private hospitals across the UK to safely and effectively treat Portwine Stain on skin types I-IV. Through sending out light at a certain wavelength range, we aim at absorption peaks in haemoglobin and oxy-haemoglobin, allowing us to treat Portwine Stain of different sizes and depths without causing much damage to the surrounding skin. Subsequent to the treatment, the impaired vessels are absorbed by the body and there is little or no evidence of the initial lesion.

At Dr Sknn, we use IPL to take advantage of light energy, which is absorbed by the Portwine Stain, causing them to spasm and/or collapse, before being shut off. As time goes on, these vessels are then naturally dissolved by the body, leaving behind very little evidence of the original blemish.
