Dermalux's LED treatment involves a low level of light energy, drawn from the visible and infrared end of the light spectrum, being directed onto the skin. The type of wavelength is then decided by the chromophore's target and the wanted photobiological process. Several wavelengths interact with biological systems, sparking key cell receptors which alter cellular metabolism by initiating intracellular photo biochemical reactions. In other words, the light energy is transformed into cellular energy and this switches the chromophore from a steady state to an excited state.
