At Dr Sknn, we are proud to utilise the Lynton Lumina - a leading-edge Intense Pulsed Light System (IPL) - which is also employed by the NHS and private hospitals around the UK for safe and efficacious treatment of Spider Vein across skin types I-IV. This system functions by sending out light of certain wavebands; these absorption peaks in haemoglobin and oxy-haemoglobin enable us to treat Spider Vein of various sizes and depths with minimal harm to the skin around it. Following the treatment, the damaged vessels are then taken up by the body and there is no trace of the initial lesion remaining.

Employing IPL, at Doctor Sknn we utilise light energy, the light is absorbed by the blood vessels heating them to a level that causes them to spasm and/or break up and be sealed. As the weeks go by, the impaired vessels are taken back into the body with little or no trace of the initial lesion left.

At Dr Sknn, during the appointment a medical history including a physical examination and pictures will be performed. There will be an opportunity to talk about any worries, expectations, results, or queries you may have. Prior to the treatment any post-treatment information and risks linked to the treatment are gone through to make sure you understand them completely and a consent form is signed. Additionally, if it is a fresh area being treated a small patch test with Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) will be conducted to ensure appropriateness.
