At Dr Sknn we take advantage of the Lynton Lumina, a high-end Intense Pulsed Light System (IPL) employed by the NHS and private medical facilities across the UK, to safely and effectively treat Telangiectasias on skin types I-IV. Through emitting light in a precise wavelength range, absorption peaks in haemoglobin and oxy-haemoglobin can be targeted, thus allowing us to treat Telangiectasias of different sizes and depths while causing minimal damage to the nearby skin. Once the procedure is done, the impaired vessels are taken in by the body, leaving little or no trace of the initial lesion.

Here at Dr Sknn, our practice of IPL involves the use of light energy, which is absorbed by the veins, heating them to the degree that they contract and/or collapse, and are then shut off. In the following weeks, the damaged vessels are absorbed naturally by the body, leading to little or no indication of the initial mark.

At Dr Sknn, upon consultation, a medical history and physical examination are carried out which also involves taking photographs. During this, issues, objectives, results and questions can be raised and discussed. Prior to the treatment, any post treatment advice and any risks connected to the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) procedure is looked into and explained, thus ensuring a full understanding before the individual signs the consent form. In addition, if the area being treated is unfamiliar to the doctor, a small patch test will be done to check that it is suitable.
